WRONGFUL CONVICTION CIVIL CASES
Innocent people wrongly convicted of certain serious
crimes have the ability to seek compensation by filing a civil suit. If you or someone you know who was innocent and was wrongly convicted in Massachusetts of a crime never
committed, contact us for an initial consultation to see if you meet the requirements to file suit and seek compensation.
Please Note: The wrongful
conviction cases our office handles are limited to only Massachusetts cases. Some other states have wrongful conviction
statutes, but you need to check with attorneys in your own state to review your case. There are time limits, so don't
wait.
We were one of the first to file a lawsuit on behalf
of a man wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. He served nearly four
years in prison for a crime he did not commit. We successfully had his conviction reversed and then had him
exonerated. We followed through afterwards and successfully:
- Settled his case under this new law
- Expunged his criminal record
- Sought and obtained educational benefits:
1/2 tuition reduction at any Massachusetts state college or university
We were right on top of the law:
- We helped write the new law
- We lobbied key legislators to help get the law passed
- We advocated for the amount of compensation to be as
high as possible and to include educational tuition reduction at Massachusetts state colleges and universities
